FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Fairhope Police Department is investigating a suspicious package that shut down several downtown streets Tuesday morning.
Police say the package was found on Church Street, between Magnolia Street and Fairhope Avenue, around 7:00 a.m.
Officers could see exposed wires and possible battery connections.
The Mobile Police Department sent its Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit to examine the package, and they determined it was safe.
As of 9:00 a.m., a small section of Church Street remained closed while officers wrapped up their investigation on scene.
