Narcotics Involved in Over Half of Mail-based Threats
June was an interesting month for mail threats, with notable rises in death threats and white powder incidents both in the United States and overseas that seemly were tied to political elections and ongoing hot topic events. We fully expect the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe Vs. Wade will cause a significant increase in mail threats in July and August.
Companies that have openly expressed support of employees through paying for travel or other means have drawn considerable attention and with it expected threats. As in previous months, the ongoing war in Ukraine has continued to generate mail threats and will continue to do so as the interactions between both sides of the argument increase over time. With the physical space between all the involved parties, the mail is a logical medium to send threats to both the actors involved and organizations on the fringes.
