MailSecur T-ray Mail Security Screening

Your First Line
of Defense

Every day, your mailroom remains one of the most vulnerable entry points for threats. MailSecur, delivers an enterprise-scalable solution that brings 4D T-ray imaging technology for threat and contraband detection to every site — from corporate offices and executive protection programs to government facilities, to state and local correctional facilities and public safety agencies.

MailSecur Device providing a first line of defense.

Why MailSecur Matters

BLIND SPOTS: Conventional mail screening leaves blind spots: harmful powders, liquids, narcotics, CBRNE threats and, hoax devices.

LIVE IMAGING: MailSecur uses safe terahertz (T-ray) imaging to see inside sealed mail and small parcels, giving you live, dynamic 4D video of contents.

NO HARMFUL X-RAYS: Safe T-rays means there is no special radiation shielding or complex site licenses or radiation safety certifications required.

VALIDATED EFFECTIVENESS: Designated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT) under the SAFETY Act.

Operators view live terahertz video……become visible in real-time

Operators view live video as items are rotated or shifted, giving deeper insight than static 2D imaging ever can. Powder agitations, fluid shifts, and concealed devices become visible.

Detects more (and smaller) threats than traditional screening

MailSecur is built to spot spot things others miss: ultra-fine powders, hidden liquids, treated or laced papers, and a wide range of conventional threats including IEDs, weapons, and electronics.

Safe for people, simple to deploy

Because MailSecur uses T-ray imaging instead of X-rays: there is no harmful radiation, no requirements for radiation safety licensing or complex safety protocols. MailSecur fits on a standard desktop and is powered from a standard outlet or optional battery pack.

24/7 expert support built-in

Integrated remote access to former military explosives experts and law enforcement narcotics officers means your team doesn’t have to manage threat escalation alone.

Enterprise scalability – one system, many sites

Deploy MailSecur across all sites with centralized training, remote monitoring, fleet analytics, and evidence management. Simplify manual workflows and provide seamless connectivity across your security teams.

SAFETY ACT DESIGNATED TECHNOLOGY

MailSecur is the first desktop terahertz screening system to receive SAFETY ACT Designated status as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT) by the United States Department of Homeland Security.

The Act provides powerful liability protections to:

  • Companies that develop and sell a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT).
  • Organizations that deploy and rely on those designated technologies.

This means both RaySecur and MailSecur customers have an added layer of legal protection should a terrorist attack occur.

Why MailSecur T-ray versus X-ray

Mail handling environment
Radiation‑free & safer

No harmful X‑rays, no radiation policy burden.

Dynamic, moving image

See contents live in motion with T-ray, compared to static snapshots with X-ray.

Smaller, lighter footprint

MailSecur fits on a standard desktop. 10X smaller than comparable X-ray to screen the same size items.

Advanced threat coverage

Detects powders, liquids, chemically‑laced papers, small electronics, sharp items—even when concealed in complex configurations.

Multi‑site cost efficiency

Deploy widely with less training overhead and simpler infrastructure.

MailSecur Product FAQs

What is terahertz (T-ray) technology?

Terahertz frequencies (THz) or T-rays are simply high frequency radio waves. T-rays are significantly more sensitive than millimeter-wave and X-ray systems for detecting low density materials like powders and liquids. Terahertz imaging has broad applications for non-intrusive security screening to detect hidden threats and contraband. While much research has been focused on the terahertz domain over the past several decades, RaySecur is the first company to pioneer widespread commercial applications of terahertz systems.

Minus

How is T-ray different from X-ray?

T-ray is non-ionizing and safe, while X-ray generates harmful ionizing radiation requiring specialized permits and licenses. A typical X-ray systems also uses hundreds of pounds of lead shielding to contain the radiation. In contrast, RaySecur’s T-ray systems contain no lead and are approximately 10X smaller than a conventional X-ray. T-ray provides dynamic, real-time, live video imaging that reveals concealed threats in motion, while X-ray systems produce static pictures. T-rays are also approximately 300X more sensitive than X-ray to detect low density materials like powders and liquids.

Plus

What does "4D screening" mean?

4D screening captures length, width, depth, and live motion, allowing operators to detect powders, liquids, and other anomalies that static images cannot reveal.

Plus

Is MailSecur safe to use in an office or mailroom?

Yes. MailSecur uses safe T-rays that do not generate any ionizing radiation. MailSecur does not require any radiation barriers, special access-controlled rooms, or radiation safety licenses and permits. MailSecur can be deployed in any office environment and setup in minutes, just like a copier or printer.

Plus

What threats can MailSecur detect?

MailSecur can detect all nine types of mail threats listed by the United States Department of Homeland Security. These include powders, liquids, weapons, electronics, explosives, chemical, biological agents, drugs and narcotics, nuclear and radiological material, hoax items, and other concealed threats and contraband without opening mail. MailSecur is the only all-in-one mail threat screening system.

Plus

Where can MailSecur be used?

MailSecur is used in a wide range of corporate environments including headquarters, office buildings, R&D facilities, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and other critical sites. It is also used by executive protection (EP) teams for screening mail in executives’ homes and in mobile settings. Government agencies, courts, correctional facilities, and law enforcement and public safety agencies also use MailSecur to detect concealed threats and contraband.

Plus

Does MailSecur replace X-ray scanners?

MailSecur complements X-ray systems and is often used for routine screening, with X-ray reserved for dense packages.

Plus

Can MailSecur detect fentanyl and drug-soaked papers?

MailSecur detects concealed powders and liquid-soaked materials, including drug-soaked papers, but does not identify substances.

Plus

What size items can be screened?

Letters, flats, documents, books, and small parcels.

Plus

Is training required?

Yes. MailSecur includes onboarding and operator certification.

Plus

How long does screening take?

Most screening takes seconds.

Plus

Does MailSecur store screening records?

Yes. MailSecur logs screening data for documentation and investigations.

Plus

Is MailSecur approved by the U.S. government?

Yes. MailSecur is designated under the DHS SAFETY Act.

Plus

What support and services are included?

Training, SOP guidance, threat reporting support, maintenance, and updates are included with an active service contract.
