Authorities have cleared the scene after investigating a reported suspicious package in downtown Annapolis not far from the State House.
The Annapolis Fire Department posted on social media at about 2 p.m. Tuesday that members of its Fire Explosives and Hazmat teams were on the 100 block of Francis Street investigating the package.
The department was warning residents to try to avoid the area if possible. The department did not post any other details about the investigation.
A reporter at the scene said firefighters and emergency personnel began to clear the scene shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The package was cleared by Annapolis Fire and Explosives Services Unit, and Hazmat Team and turned over to DGS Maryland Capitol Police, according to the Annapolis Fire Department.
